What should I be doing?

Hopefully you should be well on the way with your filming and have shot some interesting footage. If this is not the case then you need to see me before Friday as your coursework is at serious risk! In the mean time if you need any advice please come and see me and I will endeavour to help!

Homework - Friday 5th November

Over half term you should all be filming for your practical production. If you do not begin filming now then it is unlikely you will be able to produce a product that reflects your true ability. Please remember to:

• Use your production schedule as guidance
• Think about the location (is it easily accessible?, do you have permission?)
• Time (do you have enough daylight/nightlight?)
• Lighting (how have you lit the scene?)
• Actors (are they available for shooting?)
• Continuity (are the actors in the same position for each shot/are they wearing the right clothes?).
• Equipment (do you have all the cameras/tripod/props you need?)

Lastly please be careful with all the equipment and have fun!

You should have the following information on your blog:

• Film Idea and Genre
• Similar Media Text Analysis (Textual analysis of three texts - which ever you decided upon e.g. teaser trailer)

• Symbolic Code Analysis

• Mood Board
• FINAL DECISIONS (sound track, sound effects, costumes, props, lighting)

What is the difference between AS and A2?

Remember you should be developing on the skills you have learnt in AS to produce a more successful and professional portfolio. One way to do this is to think how you will individualise/subvert/challenge the brief?

Interesting Teaser Trailers

Three interesting tease trailers:

• 'Cemetery Junction' (no footage from the film just Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant joking about Ralph Fiennes)
• 'G-Force 3D' (only clips from the film)
• 'Cloverfield' (a mix of 'gimmick' and 'clips')

These highlight the fact that there is no set definition of a teaser trailer in Hollywood and that the only criteria is that it is released a longer time before the film than the theatrical trailer.

But remember it is shorter than a theatrical trailer. It should usually be between 30 and 60 seconds, but no more than 90 seconds, as anything longer would be a theatrical trailer.
