Channel 4 Documentaries

Channel 4 broadcast an excellent range of documentaries. In particular, the Three Minute Wonder productions could be a valuable source of inspiration for our productions.

Take a look at the short entitled Living With Surveillance. Are the techniques used in Three Minute Wonder documentaries relevant to our A2 productions? What features could we learn from?

What's Your Favourite?

An entertaining production which is innovative, original and quirky. Your productions will obviously be on a very different topic but this doesn't mean we can't produce something alternative to the expected norms of the genre.

To get us started, let's look at an example of A2 Advanced Production work. Whilst watching, consider production values, format, language, audience, sound and editing . . . . basically, is it any good?

Unit 2733 - Advanced Production

The brief for your Advanced Production is to create an extract from a new documentary programme (maximum five minutes).

We decided, as a group, to create a "crime documentary". The rationale for this decision is to supplement Unit 2734 - Critical Research Study, for which you will research and develop an understanding of the topic Crime and the Media.

For your information, I've attached the mark scheme below. It'll be helpful to understand what is required to achieve the higher levels.

Welcome to the A2 Media blog. For the duration of year 13 this will be the place to find information, help and resources. I'd also like this page to be used for comment, analysis, discussion and review of relevant media productions.
